Commercial & free digitization

Free of charge service of digitalising photographs of private collections

Do you have a collection of photographs documenting Gdańsk and want to save them in the digital format?  The Museum of Gdańsk can do that for you.  We are looking forward to our cooperation!

The Digitalisation Section of the Museum of Gdańsk deals with digitalising the museum collection and, in line with the mission and vision of the institution, it also digitalises private collections of the Gdańsk residents free of charge, in return for obtaining a licence for making the collection available online.

The idea behind the free of charge digitalisation service is to make, via the Museum of Gdańsk, private collections of the residents of Gdańsk, portraying the city (places, events, everyday life, people) available to the public.  The collections delivered for digitalisation will be returned to their owners once the digital photographs have been made, together with copies of the created high-quality digital files.  The files will also be placed on dziedzictwo-gdansk.pl  portal respecting the accessibility option indicated by the owner; they will be secured by long-term archiving.

To order free of charge digitalisation of your collection which may later be made available online, use the form at dziedzictwo-gdansk.pl; you will find it in the top menu of the page: ‘Zamów Digitalizację’ [Order digitalisation]; you can also contact the digitalisation section directly by sending a note on your willingness to enter into cooperation to the following e-mail address:

  2. the type of the objects (e.g. photographs, documents, objects of everyday use, furniture, etc.),
  3. the material (e.g. paper, glass plate negative, or at least information on whether the objects incorporate any glossy elements),
  4. the average object sizes (expressed in metres or centimetres, identifying at least three basic dimensions of the object, i.e. the length, height, width, as well as weight in the case of larger objects),
  5. the dimensions of the largest object designated for digitalisation,
  6. the assumed work commencement date,
  7. the assumed work completion date,
